Strayed is a film regarding the environmental plight of our world and its multiple implications on the physical and psychological well-being of our species. The film is told from the lens of a father who's going through burnout due to his lack of connection with nature and his 6-year-old son who has been deeply impacted by the situation of our planet and in his fear constructs a time-capsule with all his favorite belonging for civilizations to come after our desist to find.

Director’s statement

In these modern times where we’re all overworked and live lives ridden with anxiety and stress, where we barely have time to take care of ourselves, Strayed is an attempt to make us care about the damage we’re causing to the environment. A heavy feat, I agree. But after months of pondering over how to make our dying planet a personal issue for everyone, I realized the answer was through Love. No, not love for ourselves, because we don’t love ourselves, we smoke and eat unhealthily even after knowing that it’s harmful to us. We drive rashly knowing it could kill us, we don’t have enough patience to make healthy choices. But we humans are better than that, the things we don’t do for ourselves, we do them for love for our kids, our spouses, parents, and friends. Our capacity to love is immense, and if we can’t care about the fate of the planet for our own sake, we definitely will if realize it directly corresponds to the future of our kids.

Strayed is really a film about the irony of a parent’s love. Parents dedicate their entire lives to giving their kids a better future but don’t realize that if we continue to ignore the environmental crisis and pollute, the kids won’t have a future.

“Nicole: We don’t realize how connected to it all we are, I mean, we are nature. The way the moon controls the tide in the ocean, it affects us too, we are 70% water.

Mark: Nicole, stop with your hippy spiritual mumbo jumbo. “

Strayed

We humans are a mere part of nature, but we’ve strayed from this fact in the last 200 years since the industrial revolution and the invention of light that made us look away from the stars that had been studied and was a integral part of living along with other knowledge of our oneness with nature that we’ve been collectively ignoring. that has led to the downfall of humanity as most of our youth in today’s time is struggling with depression, anxiety and
